Thunderbirds Are Go! to Mark First MIP Junior World Premiere TV Screening

Homepage-back-upPARIS: Thunderbirds Are Go!, a remake of the classic show from the 1960s, is slated to make its world debut at this year’s MIP Junior, which is being held in Cannes from October 11 to 12.

MIP Junior’s first-ever World Premiere TV Screening will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the event’s new Palm Beach location at the opposite end of the Croisette from the Palais des Festivals. Thunderbirds Are Go! is produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with Weta Workshop. The 26×30-minute program, which features a combination of CGI animation and live-action miniature sets, is due to debut on ITV and CITV in the U.K. in spring 2015. It is internationally distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE).

Maria Kyriacou, the managing director of ITVS GE and ROW, commented:       “Thunderbirds broke new ground in the 1960s with the use of Supermarionation. Thunderbirds Are Go!‘s mix of CGI animation and live-action miniatures pays homage to the classic series, while creating a pioneering new look to appeal to today’s children. This makes it ideal for MIP Junior’s first World Premiere Screening and we look forward to presenting it to buyers at the market.”

Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s TV division, added: “This World Premiere Screening is a first for MIP Junior, and coincides with the event moving to its new, larger premises. It also underlines the importance of MIP Junior as the premier choice for launching new kids’ programs to the international audience.”
