Jane and the Dragon follows the adventures and comedic exploits of Jane, an adolescent girl training to be a knight and her friend, Dragon, a talking, flying, 300-year-old, fire-breathing dragon.

The series is based on the books of the same name by Martin Baynton.

Jane and the Dragon is a CGI/motion capture animated series and is co-produced by Weta Workshop (as Weta Productions) in New Zealand and Nelvana Limited in Canada.


The program originally aired on YTV in Canada and on ABC in Australia. Since September 2006, it has also been running as part of the Qubo channel line-up on NBC in the USA and was seen on Five in the UK.

The program was nominated for Best Animated Show at the 2008 Annie Awards, for a Writers Guild of Canada Award in 2007 and for four Gemini Awards in 2006. It also won Best Animated Series at Banff in 2006.
