ABC Commercial has sold the second series of the internationally successful children’s animation series, THE WOTWOTS (26 x 12’ HD) to HBO Family Latin America. The deal is exclusive for two years and will involve each episode being dubbed into Brazilian Portuguese and neutral Spanish. The agreement follows HBO’s acquisition of Series One (52 x 10’ HD) in 2011.
THE WOTWOTS are two small, puppet-like aliens, a brother and sister, who come to explore planet Earth in their steam powered spaceship. In Series Two they land on a farm and meet the friendly farm animals, and then travel to the sea shore and explore the weird and wonderful creatures that live on the beach and in the sea. The series celebrates the joy of discovery and the strange and extraordinary diversity of life on the planet.
“We are thrilled HBO Family Latin America has picked up season two of the WotWots. The series and our lovable characters are proving to be a popular pre-school choice for parents and children in this region. The ongoing international success of the WotWots shows the key themes and fundamentals of our series translate to kids all over the world”, said Andrew Smith, Chief Executive, Pukeko Pictures.
THE WOTWOTS was produced by Pukeko Pictures and made at Richard Taylor’s Weta Workshop. Pukeko Pictures is a business partnership between Academy Award winner Richard Taylor, the co-founder and creative lead of Weta Workshop, and internationally acclaimed author, illustrator and children’s television creator/producer, Martin Baynton. Taylor and Baynton previously teamed up to create the highly acclaimed award winning children’s program, JANE AND THE DRAGON.
