To coincide with the first episode premiering Saturday 22nd October at 3.30pm on ITV and Sunday 23rd October at 8.30am on CITV, TV personality Sam Faiers launched a convoy of black cabs which have been specially transformed into limited edition versions of Thunderbirds 1, 2, 3, 4 — as well as Lady Penelope’s favourite mode of transport, the FAB 1.
Donning Lady Penelope’s new-look wardrobe of a yellow dress, black jacket and high heels, Sam posed with the vehicles before they blasted off from London’s Marble Arch.
Complete with wings, rockets, personalised number plates, a special in-car mission from Scott Tracy and their very own Parker driving, budding heroes have the chance to become honorary members of International Rescue by travelling in the ThunderCabs, available for one weekend only.
The ThunderCabs are available to book on 22nd and 23rd October between 9am and 5pm via the Karhoo app*, with rides costing a flat rate of £1 for any journey within central London. All proceeds will be donated to The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury.
Adrian Last, Executive Vice President and Director of ITV Studios Marketing said: “The Thunderbird vehicles are so iconic, what better way to celebrate the new season than to bring them to life for families to travel in during half term? Whilst we can’t guarantee the ThunderCabs will take you to Tracy Island, they will bring a smile to fans of the series big and small – and it’s certainly a fun way to see the city!”
The fleet will be based at a number of half-term hotspots such as Madame Tussauds, The Science Museum and The London Eye, and can be ordered, subject to availability, by downloading the Karhoo app and selecting the bespoke Thunderbirds Are Go fleet.
Sam Faiers said: “Growing up I was always a fan of Thunderbirds (I even made a Tracy Island out of cardboard after watching it on Blue Peter!) so getting the chance to dress up as Lady
Penelope was a real privilege – especially as it’s for such a good cause.”
Daniel Ishag, CEO and founder of Karhoo, added: “As big fans of Thunderbirds Are Go,
Karhoo is delighted to be able to offer a fleet of very special taxis on the app. The Children’s Trust is an amazing charity, giving children with brain injury the opportunity to live the best life possible, and we can’t think of a better place to donate all the proceeds from these one-of-a-kind taxi rides.”
Season 2 of Thunderbirds Are Go premieres Saturday 22nd October at 3.30pm on ITV and Sunday 23rd October at 8.30am on CITV.
